About us
At Alison Penny Garden Design, we are experienced in tackling a wide range of projects.
Your garden will be transformed by a strong team of creative professionals.

The Designer (Alison Penny)
Alison has a lifelong love of plants, gardens and gardening, nurtured during a rural Yorkshire childhood. In 2001, after 10 years in healthcare she decided to follow her passion and switched careers. She gained the Royal Horticultural Society General Certificate in Horticulture and trained in Garden Design and Planting Design at Capel Manor College.
She is based in St Albans, and her practice has grown steadily, mainly through word-of-mouth recommendations. Gardens associated with historic buildings are a particular interest. Previous work on listed buildings includes a Georgian House in London, several 16th century homes and a number of Edwardian villas.

The Gardeners (Fenella and Elaine)
Also mad about plants, Fenella and Elaine formalised their skills with horticulture and planting design qualifications. They often help out with planting new gardens and refreshing borders. They are much in demand for their weeding, pruning, staking, mulching and plant identification expertise.

The Tree Surgeons (Ross, Jo and Lee)
Ross co-ordinates much of our tree work including felling, lifting canopies and so on. He sorts out the necessary consents to ensure all the paperwork is in order before work begins. Ross is ably assisted by his sons Jo and Lee and the rest of the team
